Bengals Snag Prolific Pass-Catching TE Mike Gesicki

The Cincinnati Bengals have secured a notable addition to their roster, as they’ve reportedly signed tight end Mike Gesicki, a former second-round draft pick from Penn State who previously played for the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.

This move comes on the heels of the second day of free agency, with Gesicki agreeing to a one-year deal with the Bengals. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound tight end adds another dynamic weapon to Cincinnati’s offense, joining standout wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Gesicki showcased his talents in Miami, particularly during the 2022 season when he posted impressive numbers, including 73 receptions for 780 yards. Despite a quieter season in New England, where he tallied 29 catches for 244 yards, Gesicki’s track record as a reliable pass-catcher remains evident.

Notably, Gesicki hasn’t fumbled in the last four seasons, underscoring his reliability on the field. With three seasons of at least 50 receptions and 570 yards under his belt, Gesicki brings a level of production at tight end that the Bengals haven’t seen in years.

The last Bengals tight end to reach similar yardage was Tyler Eifert during his Pro Bowl campaign in 2015, while Jermaine Gresham was the last to achieve multiple 50-catch seasons from 2010 to 2014.

At just 28 years old, Gesicki offers both youth and experience to the Bengals’ offense, providing quarterback Joe Burrow with another valuable target as they look to build upon their recent successes.
